Alveopora Large Colony
£80.00
Alveopora corals are a type of large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for their delicate, flower-like appearance. They are often mistaken for Goniopora but are generally considered easier to care for. Here’s what you need to know to keep them healthy:
Tank Requirements
• Lighting: Moderate to low. Too much light can stress them, so aim for 50-150 PAR.
• Flow: Moderate, with gentle, indirect movement. Too much flow can cause them to retract.
• Placement: Middle to lower areas of the tank, away from aggressive corals.
Water Parameters
• Temperature: 76-80°F (24-27°C)
• Salinity: 1.025
• pH: 8.1-8.4
• Alkalinity: 8-12 dKH
• Calcium: 400-450 ppm
• Magnesium: 1250-1350 ppm
Feeding
Alveopora corals are photosynthetic but benefit from supplemental feeding.
• Feed 2-3 times a week with phytoplankton, zooplankton, or coral foods like Reef Roids.
• Target feeding helps growth, but they can also catch food from the water column.
General Care Tips
• Avoid aggressive neighbors; Alveopora corals are peaceful and can be damaged by more aggressive LPS corals.
• Maintain stable water parameters; fluctuations can stress them.
• Keep an eye on pests like flatworms and nudibranchs that may target them.
