XXL Metallic Green Goniopora
£160.00
Goniopora coral, often called “flowerpot coral,” is beautiful but can be challenging to keep. Here are some key care tips to help it thrive:
1. Lighting:
• Moderate to high lighting (PAR 100–250).
• LED or T5 lighting works well.
• Acclimate slowly to intense light to prevent bleaching.
2. Water Flow:
• Moderate, indirect flow.
• Too much flow can prevent polyp extension, while too little may lead to debris buildup.
3. Water Parameters:
• Temperature: 75–80°F (24–27°C)
• Salinity: 1.025–1.026 SG
• pH: 8.1–8.4
• Alkalinity: 8–10 dKH
• Calcium: 400–450 ppm
• Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm
• Nitrates: 5–10 ppm
• Phosphates: <0.1 ppm
4. Feeding:
• Goniopora benefit from direct feeding with phytoplankton, zooplankton, or reef-optimized coral foods 2–3 times a week.
• Turn off flow while feeding for better absorption.
5. Placement:
• Place in moderate light and flow areas like the lower-middle portion of the tank.
• Avoid direct blasts from powerheads.
6. Tank Mates:
• Avoid aggressive corals that might sting or outcompete it.
• Some clownfish and shrimp can irritate the polyps by hosting them.
7. Stability & Maintenance:
• Regular water changes (10–20% every 2 weeks) help maintain stability.
• Keep parameters stable to prevent stress.
8. Acclimation:
• Slowly acclimate to new conditions, especially lighting and flow.
