Zooanthellae is a type of algae that lives in the soft tissue of all corals part of a symbiotic relationship. This algae expolsion results in corals becoming dark in color and will eventually cause harm. So keeping your Nitate and Phospate levels low maintains the balance you need for vivid looking corals and healthy fish.
